That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown by Cressida Cowell Illustrated by Neal Layton

Emily Brown does everything with Stanley her toy rabbit. She goes on deep sea dives, into outer space, and anywhere else her imagination wants to go. One day there was a knock at her door. And that knock and what is to follow will bring her face to face with the Queen herself. That naughty Queen wants HER Stanley. She insists on calling him Bunnywunny and also for her giving him up. But no matter what she tries to give her in return for Stanley she repeats that Stanley is NOT FOR SALE!

Emily Brown loves her Stanley and she's going to make sure no one, not even the Queen is going to take him away. She ends up teaching that naughty queen a thing or two in the end. I got a little teary eyed at the end because I'm such a sensitive fool. I mean seriously? Getting teary eyed with a picture book? Well you know then that it's a sweet book that you can enjoy. I found a video where Freema Agyeman is reading the whole little book so you can see for yourself if you like it. By the way its months not years at the end. You'll know what I mean when you see the video. I hope you know who Freema is. Think Doctor Who. If you haven't seen the show you should. It's been airing for at least forty years. It's worth it. Trust me. Well, enjoy!

Dial-a-Ghost by Eva Ibbotson

For the Wilkinson's the afterlife hasn't been the greatest time of their lives. Yes, they do have each other... Mr. Wilkinson who used to be a highly respected dentist, Mrs. Wilkinson a lovely motherly type of woman, Eric Wilkinson their teenage son who has a broken heart, Grandma Wilkinson a strong withered old woman who always has an umbrella on hand just in case, and of course Budgie their pet bird who always says Open Wide just like Mr. Wilkinson would say to his patients. All that changed when a bomb was dropped on their house during World War II. Trixie Wilkinson never made it to their afterlife. She was Mrs. Wilkinson's shy younger sister. But there happened to be an addition later on in the form of a lost girl who didn't know who she was. She has a thing for pets and would very much like a ghost sheep she could teach tricks too. Her name is Adopta.Get it?

The Dial-a-Ghost/Adopt-a-Ghost agency is around for ghosts that need a home from the blood stained brides to the headless knights. Everyone is welcome. A family will simply call them up and they will get paired up with the right ghosts. It has been hard to pair anyone up with the Shriekers a married couple who attack children and scream bloody murder. They are supposed to go to Oliver's home. He's an orphan and has recently been given Helton Hall. He's all alone now and the Fultons who believe they should have Helton Hall are furious. They want to give him such a fright that no one will ever see him again...

I remember this cover like it was the back of my hand. I could have sworn I read it in Elementary school because I remember seeing it so often but now I'm not so sure. I can't remember anything of it. Anyways this book is by Eva Ibbotson. She was one of the greatest authors of children's books. The Secret Platform 13, The Island of the Aunts, Which Witch? and more. Now I would love to say this book was absolutely amazing but I think I'm a little too grown to like it (if I really did read it) as much as I did or would back then. It's definitely a children's read of course. It's filled with a great cast of ghosts. Oliver threw me for a loop because he was stronger at the end than I ever expected to be. That boy's got spunk! The most important thing that it conveys is friendship and loyalty. It was a good ghost book for elementary aged kids.

Sorcery & Cecelia or the Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede & Caroline Stevermer

Release Date: May 22, 2012
Cecelia and Kate are cousins but not only that but best of friends. They get in the most audacious predicaments one involving a goat... Unfortunately Kate is sent away to London with her Aunt Charlotte and her sister Georgina. They are there for the Season which I interpret to mean the time when suitors come along and when one will eventually ask a girl to marry them. Kate is dragged along because as the older sister she has to have her Season first or with Georgina. Georgina isn't all that bad but every guy is drawn to her so you see how that can get to her head.

Meanwhile Cecelia or Cecy is in Essex with her Aunt Elizabeth and her brother Oliver who fancies Georgina which is his cousin which is nasty... just saying. She makes friends with Dorothea who is beautiful just like Georgina but is more embarrassed by all the attention than welcoming of it.

There is magic and wizards in this story and it all starts off with Kate stumbling upon a curious door which she of course had to open. It was a garden and in the center what looked like a woman with powdered white hair drinking some chocolate. The chocolate was an intricate designed little blue thing. The problem was that she couldn't leave. The woman started calling her Thomas and all she could thing to do was throw the chocolate at her to get away. She never thought it would burn like acid on the woman (at least that's what I thought it did) and she never imagined how the coming days and weeks were going to unravel. Along with her cousin they each tell their stories through letters. They end up mixing in the most astounding way. Where in a world that wizards are commonplace and evil surely can follow it the close cousins are going to go on an adventure of a lifetime and maybe even falling in love along the way.

I was confused when I saw that they were writing in letters at the beginning then I inwardly groaned because not only were they writing letters back and forth but the time was set in 1817 so you know they are going to be talking like they were in a Jane Austen book. To my surprise I got completely wrapped up on this tale. I was dying to know what was going to happen! My dad even got mad at me because he said I got a little attitude with him but he should know by now like I'm sure the rest of you know that you don't bother someone who's reading a really good book! And boy was it good. I didn't mind the dates. I was just enjoying the ride.

You need to know about Thomas and James. Remember I mentioned a Thomas earlier? Well he is a wizard and he's not in very good with a witch. James seems to be spying on Dorothea whenever she's around her. So you know when I'm talking about two guys and two girls what's going to happen right? There always mad at each other, the cousin and the guy with them. The guys are pretty insufferable so I understand the girls. Did I mention how much I loved this book? It's being republished in an ebook format. It's kind of an old book (more than 20 years) and it was made by these two friends. They were playing a Letter Game. They didn't know what was going to happen and by the end of it they thought it would be a perfect book. I don't know how they came up with all of this! It's really intricate. Did they know how it was going to end? I think they just made it up as they went. How I envy that creativity and whimsy. Fans of magic and mystery will love the adventures of these incredibly strong cousins. P.S.! This is book one out of three! What could possible can happen in the next one?

Never Have I Ever by Sara Shepard

After discovering that her dead twin sister's friend's Lying Game could go too far Emma worries who else her sister could have made angry enough to kill her. At least she has Ethan Landry, the cute brooding type on her side. He actually believes that she's not Sutton and that there is a murderer out there that will make sure she stays in line and if not she will end up just like her sister.

Now new suspects are coming up while others are being cleared. She is quite certain all the way through who the killer/killers are. She's being watched while she's with Ethan even at a time like three o' clock in the morning. She's actively snooping now and although terrified of who is watching her she is resolved to find out who her sisters murderer is before the murderer gets her.

She gets in trouble in this one. She also discovers a long time prank that had to deal with a train. After given a train bracelet early on in the story she knows she needs to figure out who it involved and what happened fast. She finds out that no one thought that prank was funny. Could have what happened made one of her friend's a killer?

This was a great sequel to the Lying Game which I thoroughly enjoyed. This series I can see is rapidly becoming a guilty pleasure for me. I've never been into that many mystery books as I have been into these last two books. I need to get my hands on the next one. The thing about a mystery that is a series is that you might have to wait till the last book to find out who did it and it's killing me. I want to know!

I love how Emma is taking control now. She was way more afraid before and just plain confused. Ethan's there helping her but more than just an alliance is developing there. She's kind of being chased around all the time for her to think about it too much though but you never know what might happen. I'm really surprised how her friend's don't know she's not Sutton. I mean she is always wincing at things they are saying and she isn't as bossy as Sutton even though she tries to be that way. She gets close with her fake father and I'm here feeling really bad for her because she never had that. And I'm thinking what are they going to do when they find out? What's going to happen when she has to go to college? So needless to say I loved this book. There is something that happens at the end there and all I could think of is the plot thickens! And I know things are going to be oh so interesting in Two Truths and A Lie.

The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen

Running was like breathing to Jessica. It was her world. Her life. But all that changed when on the bus ride after setting a league record in the 400 Meter Dash she and her track friends were hit by a car. Now Jessica lays defeated in a hospital room. Her right leg BK (Below the Knee) is gone. How can she ever hope to run again? Her freedom... Gone.

The driver was killed and so was Lucy Sanders. What Jessica discovers later is that her parents are struggling to pay her medical bills which doesn't make her feel less guilty than she already does. Or maybe she feels less worthy of all the attention given to her. For now she is in constant gloom because she lost her leg. She can't even walk yet. It's so far away. She has to learn to be patient. Through old friends and new maybe she can feel less like a freak while she faces life after her dreams are shattered. Well maybe she doesn't have to lose her dream of running again...

About every five seconds I was crying during this book. Maybe that's a little too dramatic but I probably cried every chapter. This book had four parts, short chapters, and a lot of chapters so you can imagine. It was just her losing her leg and she was a runner. To just lose your leg like that... I love that she's a runner. I'm a wannabe runner. If I lost my leg like that? I would just feel defeated. I would give up.  And then here is this girl with so much potential who has to worry everyday now about how people will look at her. It was kind of weird that everybody sort of accepted her. Well except some enemies.

In the beginning I felt that Van Draanen was going to go the same route as she did in Flipped. It's a really great book but it was a simple light read. I didn't see the character developing that far. As I got into it I realized that wouldn't be the case. With Rosa, her friend with cerebral palsy, I thought it felt weird. I don't know. The book didn't feel there. It felt like it was trying too hard to be a really positive story. Everything worked out in the end. I don't know. It didn't feel realistic. But that's just me I guess.

You know how I said I was crying every chapter? Well there was one point that I wanted to happen, that I expected to happen. And I thought by the end it wasn't going to happen but then it did. So it was this very climatic thing. There was this line (this is about Lucy) and I started crying but I also had this choking sob type thing going on. If you would have walked in my room you would have been worried. This book messed me up a lot. I loved it all. I kind of want the perspective of someone who can't use both legs. I think of Are You Alone On Purpose? but I want a story with a former runner. I know. I like to torture myself. So if you want to cry like a little kid but also feel really positive in the end go read this book.

Torn by Stephanie Guerra

Release Date: May 15 2012
Stella Chavez has always been the good girl who never attracted attention. She is on the soccer team so she does have a jock boyfriend but other than that she's not popular but she's not a total loser too. Her mother works tirelessly to feed her and her younger brother and sister that she has had to raise when she is gone. Her brother is a gaming addict and she makes sure he doesn't just eat junk food all day. She needs to make sure her sister doesn't hang out with the wrong people and be with someone in a gang. She wouldn't have to do this if her father was around. She can remember her father being loving but there was also that split personality that came in with drugs. He ended up in the end leaving the family to fend for themselves.

Insert new girl Ruby who's a wild child, uses and abuses men, drinks, curses, and does anything she wants to. It's not like her mother is going to do anything about her. She doesn't even seem to care. With Ruby, Stella can be someone else completely. She's been with the same friend's since kindergarten and they are boring and safe. With Ruby she gets to experience life a whole nother way. But what happens when her friend crosses the line with a man who is older than your average High School boy or even college boy. She has always been in control until now. Will she able to help her friend get away from him before she gets seriously hurt or will she fade away out of her life like her father?

First of all a round of applause for a Hispanic who wrote a story with a Hispanic as a main character. *Applause* I know there are other books where that happens like Matt de la Pena writing the amazing story of Danny in Mexican Whiteboy but I don't usually come across a YA book where the main character is anything other than white. It's not a bad thing because those books are great but it's nice to have some diversity. And then she incorporated her being Catholic so that made me happy as well.

Everyone thinks Stella is so nice and safe in the beginning but she must have some wild child in her to want to be friends with Ruby. Either that or she's a follower. She drank too already. More out of courtesy in the beginning but later on... At least she had a line that she didn't cross. Ruby on the other hand got handed into her by a smooth talker who's a thirty four year old man with gray hair. In the beginning she would make guys chase her and I was as dumbfounded as Stella when I saw her change. I thought this book was absolutely brilliant. Very engaging. I loved Stella and even Ruby even though she bugged me because she was just... everywhere. She's not the greatest person. Let me leave it at that. Awesome book and highly recommended.

Cover Reveal: Boundless by Cynthia Hand

The third book of the Unearthly books has been revealed! How do I know? I follow @CynthiaHand on twitter! Ah, the joys of knowing what your authors are up to. I'm glad it's socially acceptable because otherwise I'd call it stalking...

"Wow, am I ever excited! My editor has given me the go-ahead to share the cover for BOUNDLESS!!!!

First off, I want to say that this might be my favorite cover out of all of them, and I love all my covers. But this one... I love her expression, I love her dress and the way the wind is moving it, I love the lake rocks under her feet, the suggestion of water, the parting of the clouds, and I love the color. It's all LOVELY."

-Cynthia Hand (This was from her post on her blog.)

It's a reddish wine color it looks like. I can't say that it's my favorite (I love the first one the best). I think it needs to grow on me. What do YOU think of the cover?

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Six years ago Grace was taken by hungry wolves into the woods behind her house. She did nothing and remembers only the yellow eyes of a wolf that saved her. Since then she has had an obsession with the wolves. Whether or not she likes to call it an obsession. She always looks out for her wolf. It's like he's waiting for her.

Sam is a wolf when it turns cold. When it's hot and Summer he is able to be human. He's been watching Grace all these years. Now this is the one part of the book that I can't shake. Grace loves Sam the wolf. Then he becomes human and she loves him even more. They become a couple. Dude, that's weird... How do you not just stop and look at yourself in the mirror. You're in love with a wolf. I could understand if you loved him as a human first and then found out he turned into a wolf. It's kind of creepy...

Other than that the book proved to be an entertaining read. I've never exclusively read a book about a wolf/werewolves so I was excited about this book. I've always loved wolves since maybe.. I don't know? When I read fairy tales, fairy tale retellings, or Growing Up Wolf on the Animal Channel. Take your pick. Wolves have to be my favorite animal so it's nice to read a book (even if it's a book of fiction) about them.

Their love like I stated before was kind of weird to me. The whole drama of the pack and new members of the pack is what really kept me interested. The white she-wolf who rather be a wolf than a human who also wanted to be with Sam presented some possible challenges. Didn't really materialize into a big thing but I see how it can in later books. There is a new wolf created (a bite is supposed to make you into a wolf) who causes some panic. A lot of people know about the wolves in the end because of this person.

There's also some controversy amongst the wolves. Mostly Shiver is them being together and waiting for on for this guy named Beck to return. Sam was raised by him and looks up to him. If anything he would be the one to know what to do with the new recruit. The end is pretty crazy. I just don't know if I want to continue with it because don't get me wrong the end is pretty amazing and brings up so much possibilities but then it's that weird love I was talking about again. I can't wrap my head around how Grace doesn't think it's weird. She's in love with a wolf. The wolf becomes a human so she is instantly in love with him. I guess it's just me. I'll have to think about it...

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

The last time we left Clara she discovered that Christian didn't need saving because he's an angel himself. They haven't really talked about it. The unspoken what do we do now? Did they fail their purpose by her saving Tucker? But she wouldn't have it any other way. She doesn't care if she's destined to be with Christian. What does it matter who she falls in love with anyway? She belongs to Tucker.

This time her vision shows her that she's going to be going to a funeral. For whom she doesn't know. What I don't understand is how this vision can be a purpose. It's just a vision. How is it a purpose if she's going to a funeral? The mystery of the person who is going to die kind of ate me up inside because there were two people I thought it could be and I was right. Around half way through is when you find out. I cried a lot because of this. It was ridiculous but throughout I was also hating on Clara. She wasn't paying attention to her brother. I wanted to shake her and yell at her to pay attention to your brother! He's an important part of the plot! And he is.

Christian is always hanging around her. Talking in her head. He wants to be with her. He wants to be able to talk to her so casually like she does with Tucker. This has to be the greatest love triangle ever because you love them both so much. You can't choose much less her. Christian irritated me towards the end though. He wanted to be with her and it was like he was doing what he was supposed to do. It was fate. It wasn't like he loved her for her or even liked her for her. Well that's the way he came off. She's supposed to be with me type thing. The end leaves you with much to desire. She's going off to college now and she's a different person now in more ways than one. I actually have to wait till the start of next year to read the next book. I hate being denied by a book...

The Council of Mirrors by Michael Buckley

Granny Relda is wreaking havoc in Ferryport Landing or should I say Mirror is wreaking havoc in Ferryport Landing? There's only a small number of people and Everafters willing to fight against the Scarlet Hand and those numbers are going to dwindle unless the Grimms can convince others to join in. Meanwhile Uncle Jake is going crazy with the need to revenge his love's death. On top of that all of the Mirrors have been fixed by their creator Bunny. Now The Council of Mirrors tells of a prophecy: the salvation of the whole world relies on the Sisters Grimm.

Throughout the book people doubt the girls and try things there own way. But we need the Sisters. This series again I say and will continue saying for the rest of my life is the greatest fairy tale series that has ever come out and will ever come out. It is pure brilliance! I will read this to my future children! The ending is just perfect. You don't even understand. You will DIE! You will flail around, yell, and squeal, you'll do it all. And I have one word left that will make you so happy (at least it makes me happy) it's: EPILOGUE.

The Summer of Firsts and Lasts by Terra Elan McVoy

Calla, Violet, and Daisy are sisters. Sisters who are spending three weeks at Camp Callanwolde. Calla is the mother type, always worried about her sisters and how others will perceive her. This is her last summer at camp and at home because after this she is going off on her own to college. She decides to apply for a job this year so she is an assistant. Her crush every summer, Duncan, is a counselor. He is her very best friend but he doesn't know how much she loves him but not wanting to ruin her friendship she doesn't do anything. Maybe this last summer she'll break that boundary...

Violet is the middle child so she has to be the rebellious one. All the campers have a concentration and she is a Writer. She becomes friends with Brynn, this give me attention type of girl. She admires her for that because she has never been able to break the rules. So there she goes off being rebellious and sneaking out of camp at night. Brynn is trouble though and her sisters see it especially her overbearing sister Calla. Whatever. While Calla has her eyes on Duncan she has her eyes on James.

Daisy is the youngest one and she is the quietest. She keeps to herself mostly and doesn't really have any friends. Her concentration is Running so you already know I like her the best. She likes Joel. Every sister got herself a man. She gets picked on and I want to be like Calla and just defend her. She has to be the smartest one too well I'm just saying Violet can be pretty dumb.

I had a big beef with Violet. Her friend? Brynn? She has issues and she's the type of person to bring everyone down with her. She is good in some ways but really you do what she does just to be friends? You have no self esteem and you're supposed to be the sister who doesn't take crap from anyone. There's always a sister like that in a book of three sisters. It's inevitable. Your younger sister had more sense than you.

Oh yeah. One of them had sex and what I really DON'T want to know is how it went down. I'm reading YA. I DON'T CARE! I don't need to hear the details even if it's only a page. And you don't even know him! All you did was LOOK AT EACH OTHER! You are ridiculous. That's how girls get pregnant at a young age. Sorry about that. Rant is over. Argh...

Other than my rants above the book was pretty good. Daisy made the book for me. Violet did too because she was hanging out with the troublemaker Brynn so I was always interested in them. Daisy is a runner and she is a loner. She is perfect just to let you know. She's like me in a way so of course I'll like her the best but also because she's strong.

Last thing. Did not like the ending. It's probably just me but I was shaking my head saying what kind of ending was that? So not my favorite book but it's still a decent read. It keeps you entertained and you'll want to know what the end result is with the girls and the guys.

Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams

"Her voice
pierces me in the chest,
right under,
the breastbone
And my heart,
right then and there,
rips in half.
I can feel the weepy
tear in it."

That's right. It's another one of those books that is written in verse. This one is about two sisters, Hope and Lizzie. Lizzie tried to kill herself and Hope is trying to find out why. Her mother is a prostitute so they aren't living in the best living conditions. I've never absolutely loved a book in verse. Burned by Ellen Hopkins got close only because the book's ending made me want to scream and rip and tear out the father's eyes out.

I actually don't mind verse that much anymore. It's just that I haven't read a 5 star book with verse in it but I'm being too critical seeing as I've only read three like that so don't mind me too much. This book had a lot of potential and it was intense at some times. It's a really messed up family they've got here. I didn't like how Hope a lot of the time didn't seem to care about her sister. She would always go off to her friend's house. She would always do that before but it was like she was always laughing. She never really took the time to go visit her sister. If my brothers really needed me I don't care if I had to walk for a day I would go to them. I don't know. She is twelve but really... She would talk about missing her sister and how her sister would cry but at the climax I still couldn't feel for her and she's the main character!

Well I got all the negative out of there so now for the positive. The reveal was horrible... in a good way. It'll just pierce your heart just like she says (quote above). It's really bad why she wants to kill herself. Before the reveal they hint at it and you know. God you know. This isn't going to end well. You get a little panicky before because you know and when it becomes revealed you just die inside a little. So as you can see I did like the book I just didn't like how Hope acted most of the way during the book. Verse is catching on to me. One day I might even go out of my way to read it.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

It takes a little while for you to understand the different type of vampires so I may sound like I'm speaking a foreign language but bear with me. The vampires I'm talking about aren't immortal. A Damphir is like a bodyguard for the Moroi. The Moroi have powers but they don't fight. They really should like they used to because Strigoi are killing them off. When a vampire turns Strigoi which is when they are bitten by a Strigoi. They are immortal and pure evil because they crave the blood of the Moroi and Damphir. They cannot stop themselves. They turn cruel.

Now I always thought reading this that there were other books before and it does refer to things happened like two years before. But actually there's just a spinoff of the book and the series is called Bloodlines. Rose Hathway, the Damphir bodyguard for her friend a Moroi Princess Lissa, is a party girl. She is a take action type of girl. She's the narrator too and instigates the running away from the Academy. You don't know why they ran away but it becomes slowly as you read the book. She is fiercely protective of Lissa because they have a bond like no other... She also has a romantic interest with a Guardian. There the strongest people and they get assigned to a Moroi. Rose isn't assigned yet because she is still in training. The Guardian is named Dimitri and you know already they are going to like each other.

Lissa is a quite type. She has some issues. She gets a little crazy at the end which is nice because she's all fragile in the beginning relying on Rose. She also has a romantic interest. Two loves in one book. Jackpot! The guy's a loner and I love loners but he does have a dark past so you might want to be cautious when reading about him...

There's a lot of gossip and hierarchy in the Academy because there are royals. A girl named Mia who isn't a royal is always in a fight with them. She is with Lissa's ex and seems to have a grudge against her. She goes out of her way to make her and Rose feel bad. Rose can't do anything about it because then she will never be assigned to Lissa if she makes any more trouble. And then there are the dead animals everywhere Lissa goes. A lot of things going on here. I didn't really care if I read this book before because it was about vampires and I've only read one other series about vampires and that was Twilight. Yes, I know... But it ended up being really great. The mystery and the romance and definitely Rose. Rose made this book so great. I love her. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series. The library has it on hold for me already. I like it THAT much. Some possibilities are swirling around my head.... Finally a vampire series that is really really good!

"I saw the dress."
"Did you like it?"
He didn't answer. I took that as a yes.
"Am I going to endanger my reputation if I wear it to the dance?"
When he spoke, I could barely hear him.
"You'll endanger the school."
I smiled and fell asleep.

May 2012 Cover Love

How can I forget my Cover Loves for the month? Only read a couple of books last month but I still got some really great Cover Loves.

My Cover Loves for May are Fall for Anything by Courtney Summers, The Lying Game by Sara Shepard, and The Unusual Suspects by Michael Buckley.

Fall for Anything was a heavy book. Her father was a photographer as you can see from the cover. He killed himself and all his daughter wants to know is why? I really just want to draw her. It's calling me. It's just so perfect.

The Lying Game ended up being better than I thought. I don't know why I thought it wasn't going to be that great. Because it was on t.v.? I don't know. I watch everything. Things just kept on happening and you're like who IS THE KILLER!!!??? You never can know. If you think you know you are wrong because they will throw something at you completely from left field and you'll be like wait. What!? I know you guys know I like covers with faces so it shouldn't be surprised I picked this cover.

The Unusual Suspects has got to be my favorite cover at of all the Sisters Grimm. Why? Puck. Yep. You know it. Puck saving the day from some rabbits. A cover doesn't get better than that right? Plus who would think his PINK wings would look so great with that green background. I mean that's usually a hazard but Ferguson does a nice job.

Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Supernaturally, the sequel to Paranormalcy, continues the mishap adventures of Evie. She's living a normal life now but she isn't as happy as she thought she was. She wanted normal but there is no drama or fights everyday like her favorite show, Easton Heights. In other words it's boring... She's stuck in High School while Lend, her shape shifting water element boyfriend, is in College having a great but busy time.

Evie is still her funny over dramatic self and like her she gets in trouble. Well, more like trouble finds her. People keep watching her and it's not that weird because no one knows that she's an Empty One and can see through glamour's but its different... It's like everyone is watching her. She's in danger. That doesn't stop her from heading straight for it. She's needed back at IPCA. This time she cannot do a case if she doesn't want to but she is about to meet the most insane boy ever, Jack. He's this hyper little boy that can make a Faerie portal so there's no need for Faerie's to be around her but that doesn't stop Reth from getting into her life and trying to convince her once again to go with him.

In this one you'll have your mouth open at the end. At least I did because I didn't expect that to happen. I mean what WAS THAT! So not fair. I was wishing... Ugh. Can't say anything. Reth tells her about where she came from though. That was pretty crazy and pretty sad. Evie was great but Lend not being around as much made me want Jack especially since his name is JACK! I love that name. And he is so lonely but hyper and crazy. He does get her in trouble a lot... Oh yeah. She's keeping the secret from Lend that he's immortal so that can be a problem.

Comparing it from the first book.. It's not better because in the first book you are not used to Evie and all her craziness. It's all brand new while of course in the second book it's not... I mean she is great and everything but it's not as great as the original. I love first books in series or trilogies just to let you know. But I absolutely loved this book anyways. I wanted more drama and more Lend even though I said I liked Jack. (I like drama sue me). It was in the end a great sequel. I really don't know where this whole thing is going to go. They didn't really leave it with anything mind blowing that's going to happen next. Something big happened at the end but there was no... cliffhanger. There you go! That's what I wanted to say. It is a must read if you loved Paranormalcy which you should have because it is amazing! Her and Jack are amazing in this one. So many things happen! Endlessly promises so much goodness. I can't wait! But before this review is over.... really. This cover? She's not serious AT ALL! It is pretty though. I'll give you that.

"Are you kidding me? You come here and use your stupid faerie mojo and then you back away from meIs there anything in your golden head that makes sense? What, you thought, hey, Evie's probably having a bad night, why don't I go mess with her? While you're at it, there are probably some puppies you could kick!"

"But you're such a charming conversationalist. Still, if you'd prefer to simply bask in the glory of my company, I understand. You're probably overwhelmed by holding my hand and want to enjoy the moment."
I rolled my eyes. "It's all I can do not to swoon, but I'll try to contain myself."
"I think swooning is highly underrated. You could bring it back into vogue."

It's A Wrap: A Grimm Week Summary

So it's a little late but this is a wrap up of the Sisters Grimm week. Next time I won't go as crazy. At least not when I have school. Eight books in seven days with some reactions and summaries. I had to rush at the end. Thanks for taking the time to check them out. Reading the last book this weekend so yay!

Graduation

It has finally happened. After a ridiculous amount of years in school I have finally graduated. I'm the last too so it's the end of a generation. Now my cousin's son is up next. We'll have to wait like what? more than 10 years. Seems short but I took awhile to get there. I really don't know where my life is going to go but now is the time for me to go for it. Experience new things. Be the person I have always wanted to be or discover the person I am supposed to be. What I'm supposed to do. Congratulations to all the 2012 Graduates. May your journey in life be great!

The Inside Story by Michael Buckley

So we know who the leader of the Scarlet Hand is. Betrayal is all over. Sabrina is questioning everything. She NEEDS to save her baby brother before Mirror decides to use his body so he can become human. Meanwhile she, Daphne, and Puck are in the Book of Everafter going through the books stories to get to Pinocchio and Mirror.

Puck has accepted Sabrina and their marriage wholeheartedly. He jokes with her about it throughout. You are just laughing throughout at his remarks. *sigh* I love him so much. I want to know that they end up together in the last book. It better happen.

I forgot completely about something REALLY important that happens at the end of the book. Like REALLY important. Things are going to go crazy in the next book. It's the end. I think I'm going to cry. Sabrina is going to be a leader. Everything ends way sooner than the future seen in the Everafter War. This should be good. My one complaint about this book is that the acknowledgements or thanks in this book in the beginning ruined a lot of what was going to happen. I look at that so... don't read that part. So that's it. Hope you had A Very Grimm Week! I'll read the last book sometime this week.

The Everafter War by Michael Buckley

This cover is my second favorite cover and like I said with The Unusual Suspects I love that cover too. This is the book that everything goes down. You find out who the leader of the Scarlet Hand is and you WILL BE SHOCKED!

Puck finds out that Sabrina is married to him in the future. And when he questions that he's a boy and they don't get married he gets the response back that he chose to grow older. He goes on a tyrant and does horrible things and one thing that he regrets.

You can't forge about the Parents Grimm because they are finally awake. You find out where Sabrina got her temper from. But, unfortunately her father isn't too excited to be back. Their parents are always fighting so it isn't what you would call a fairy tale ending.
You learn a lot throughout this book. It's probably my favorite book of all of them... so far. I still got the last book to read. Something big happens other than the revealing of the leader of the Scarlet Hand. Something that will make you cry yours out! Yes, they do it again. They rip your eyes out and stomp on your heart. It's horrible. Well, Have A Very Grimm Week. Last day!

A Grimm Review: Tales from the Hood

Grimm Characters

Sabrina gets a little bit into the pain category but not really because if I was her I would have done the same thing. I would be trying to protect my family from the Wolf. I would have not however boldfaced lied to my sister. She deserves what she got but I still worry about it.
-Sabrina Grimm

Daphne is acting like Sabrina throughout this book. Sabrina thought it was mocking but she got her attitude adjusted fast because it was because she looked up to her. She was betrayed. Will she ever be able to forgive her sister?
-Daphne Grimm

Granny continues to defend Mr. Canis all the way. I thought she was going to faint when they declared him guilty. She was right in the end.
-Granny Relda Grimm
Tobias Clay. Nice name Mr. Canis but why did you have to leave! I'll miss you. I'm sure we'll be seeing him soon. I wonder if he was married or had children. That's a really big deal.
-Mr. Canis

Elvis why aren't you there every second of every day! So mad at you.
-Elvis

I knew Charming was a good guy all along. Obviously he was being all evil so he could save Snow. I forgot that it was Bluebeard that was what the would be cause of Snow's death.
-Mayor William Charming

Mirror has been helping Sabrina find ways to save her parents. He can't do anything without keys so she's been swiping her grandmother's and has been copying them slowly. Puck is awed by her when she admits it.  Sabrina and her grandmother go to him all the time to see her parents.
-Mirror

Puck actually has good morals. Congratulations. He warns Sabrina but does she listen? Nope. Love the Orc he hired. Adorable. Barto. Ha!
-Puck

Snow forgives Granny. And all is right with the world. Bluebeard was terrifying. I didn't   know that he did all that. Killed 50 wives and stored them What in the...!!! She got away and she got her Prince Charming to thank.
 -Snow White

Uncle Jake is weary looking for Goldilocks. They finally find her but she says no. But in the end she changes her mind. Finally! Their parents will be awaken! Hip Hip Hooray! That took only eight books.

Grimm Recipes

A Czech Republic Meal
She flipped something that looked like a pink burrito onto Sabrina's plate.
"What is this?" Sabrina asked as she poked her breakfast.
:It's gristle and ham wrapped around heavy whipping cream.
People love this in the Czech Republic," Granny said as she rushed back into the kitchen.
"People must be very unhappy in the Czech Republic if this is what they love to eat," Sabrina said.

Baked Chicken
Someone had left a tray with baked chicken in a gravy that smelled like pureed crayons and blueberries.

Lunch for Some Pigs
"Perhaps the two of you might be interested in helping us," Granny said as she entered the dining room with a plate full of roast beef sandwiches, along with sauerkraut, pickles, baked beans, and egg salad. Sabrina couldn't believe how normal the lunch was. She was going to have to invite people in more often.

Grimm Books

Through the Looking-Glass
Children's and Household Tales
Fodor's Guide to Oz
Frommer's Lilliput
Lonely Planet's Narnia
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Narnia
Facing the Fangs: One Man's Journey into the Jaws of Death

Thank goodness they went to a library because I missed all the different type of book titles.

Magical Items

Traveler's Chest
The North Wind

A Grimm Dictionary

Nonferrous
"Nonferrous is a metal containing little or no iron," she announced.
Sabrina grabbed the dictionary. "What's this?"
"What does it look like?" Daphne said, rolling her eyes.

Postponement
"Daphne, postponement means that they want more time before the trial begins."
Daphne scowled and put her dictionary away. "I don't need your help."

Discrepancy
Daphne took out her pocket dictionary. That she didn't just ask Sabrina was infuriating. I was easy enough to tell her sister that discrepancy was another word for contradiction, but the little girl didn't seem to want Sabrina's help anymore. It hurt her to feel that "grown-up" Daphne no longer needed her.

Imprecise
"What does imprecise mean?" Daphne snapped.
"It means not exact," Sabrina said.
Daphne scowled.

Manifest
"What does the word mani...mani...fest mean?"
"You mean manifest. It's a list of items that are shipped on a train, truck, whatever," Granny explained.

Daphne's Favorite Word

Whammy!

A little late in the game to have a favorite word but I'm still happy to have it.

Grimm Moments

Puck's face turned green as if he was about to be sick. "Look at all the learning," he moaned. "I'm going to lose my lunch."

"You should have seen it, kid. We were like three fat little ninjas. Hamstead swooped down on a rope. Boarman smacked him with a shovel. I gunned the engine. It was a big day for pigs everywhere."

Favorite Grimm Moments

Puck saying Sabrina doesn't need makeup which he is basically saying she's pretty.
"By the way," Puck said softly. It had been an hour since he had last spoken and she was startled to hear him still awake. "You don't need the makeup."

The Wolf telling the Scarlet Hand members off.

Canis looked out at the crowd and laughed.
"What's so funny, mongrel?" Heart shouted.
"Look at all the monsters," he said.

Daphne telling her sister off.

"I wasn't making fun of you, Sabrina. I was trying to be more like you. You're my role model," Daphne said. "I was dressing like you and wearing my hair like yours 'cause I was trying to grow up a little. I wanted to be more like my sister. But not anymore."

Tales from the Hood by Michael Buckley

It's all about the Wolf in this one. The Grimms need to find out the real tale of Little Red Riding Hood if they have any hope to free Mr. Canis but he doesn't even want them to. He feels he' where he belongs. Granny Relda has employed Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men. They are lawyers who have real trouble ahead of them considering who they are up against.

And then there is the actual Sisters Grimm. Sabrina is more aware of her looks and is insulted more by Puck's remarks. Daphne on the other hand who has never cared for her looks is now. She's acting just like Sabrina. Like an adult. She even has her own little pocket dictionary with her so she doesn't have to rely on her sister.

Buckley does a great retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story. It's nothing any regular person could have made up. I'm so glad that he made these books because no one could do it justice like him. Red Riding Hood is in here and you get a surprise from her.

Uncle Jake is busy tracking Goldilocks and someone else is tracking her too. The next book has to be the greatest one yet. Seriously. You will finally know who the leader of the Scarlet Hand is and boy will you be shocked.

A Grimm Review: Magic and Other Misdemeanors

Grimm Characters

Sabrina was basically perfect in this book. She was too busy freaking out over the fact that her future her was married to Puck.
-Sabrina Grimm

Daphne is not going to let the whole Puck and Sabrina thing go anytime soon you can believe me. She seems to not mind her older self but she doesn't like that she's so serious. The girl has seen that Sabrina has been totally good for a long time. She admires her now.
-Daphne Grimm

Granny has a lot of things going on. Where did she get that 150,000 from! I seriously think they have stocks somewhere or I don't even know. Now their poor... at least they got some help from her friends.
-Granny Relda Grimm
Canis has transformed completely into the Wolf in the future. He's given up but it doesn't mean that Granny Relda won't.
-Mr. Canis

Elvis has great-grandchildren! He and his kids got busy... I want to know who he ends up with! I'm surprised Daphne didn't get teary eyed that Elvis died. I sure did.
-Elvis

Charming has been stuck back in time all this time! Poor Snow. He ends up being a very good guy well kind of because he joins the Scarlet Hand in the end... Honestly, do you really think he's bad?
-Mayor William Charming

Mirror gets yelled at by his creator Bunny. Bunny? Really? He ends up revealing the secret to waking up their parents and it's Goldilocks. Weird huh? I guess she grew up. But really. Why didn't Granny think of this sooner?
-Mirror

Puck gets married to Sabrina!!! And he grows up. So happy. I don't think he gets their a couple yet but it'll get through to him eventually.
-Puck

Snow is brokenhearted and then she feels betrayed by Granny Relda. One of their       closest allies is not talking to them anymore. Will she come around?
 -Snow White

Uncle Jake is in love! Maybe. He sure seems to like Briar. Briar looks weird to me. She has olive skin if I'm not mistaken. I guess the book reveals she looks like that. Finally, a princes who looks different! Good luck Jake.
-Uncle Jake

A Grimm Dictionary

Vermin
"What's 'vermin' mean?" Daphne whispered.
"Vermin are pests like rats, mice, and cockroaches," Sabrina explained.

Repossess
"What does 'repossess' mean?" Daphne whispered in Sabrina's ear.
"It means they can take our house and kick us out into the street," Sabrina replied, quickly realizing why the bike shop, florist, and antiques store had closed their stores.

Hobo
"I don't want to be a hobo," Daphne said the turned to her sister. "What's a hobo?"
Sabrina ignored the question and got up from the table.

Hallucinate
"What does 'hallucinate' mean?" Daphne asked.
"It's when you think you see something that isn't really there," Sabrina said.

Dentist
"What's a dentist," Puck asked.
Sabrina cringed, imagining the cavities this boy must have.
"There's a question you don't ever want to hear someone ask you."

Safety-Deposit Box
"What's a safety-deposit box?"
"It's like a safe. You put your valuables in it. They keep them at the bank."

*gasp* That's the second time Buckley put Daphne asking what vermin is!

Daphne's Favorite Word

Mucho Smart-O!

It's actually Mucho whatever she wants -O. Like Mucho Smart-O, Mucho Crazy-O, etc.

Grimm Moments

"I can't wait to go back," Puck said. "Baba Yaga is very puck rock."

"Look at her!" Puck shouted. "She's horrible! She's like my soulmate!"

Favorite Grimm Moments

When Cinderella turned old for her man.

"I did this so we could be together."
Cinderella looked into his eyes. "Then so be it," she whispered, and her body began to age as well. Her long blond hair turned white, wrinkles weaved across her perfect face, and her delicate hands became gnarled.
"Cindy, no!" Tom cried. "You can't go back! If you age you won't ever be young again."
"What would life be without you, my prince?" Cindy said, her voice rough and crackling. "When we say our good-byes I want to be by your side."

When I saw Daphne and Sabrina older but really it was when I knew that Sabrina and Puck were married.
"Not true, Sabrina. An Everafter can grow old if he wants. Most don't because they don't have a good reason," Puck said, sharing an affectionate look with the woman claiming to be Sabrina. The fairy had a gold ring on his left hand that was identical to one the older Sabrina wore.
Daphne squealed. "You mean...you and Puck...really...married!"

For Cinderella I was thinking about the Notebook and was crying. If it was a reaction post I would have had someone in a fetal position because that's how I feel inside. It's so romantic it's unbearable! I won't be doing a reaction post for awhile because I want to be able to finishe the Grimm Week with all the books done. But I know one reaction I won't leave out. It'll be later.

For Puck and Sabrina I knew it was already going to happen and I think I was anticipating it too much because I didn't really have a reaction. I just know the first time I had my mouth open as I saw their picture and read that Puck actually grew up for Sabrina. And they ended up getting married. So much information in such a little time. Well, Have A Very Grimm Week!

"We're Grimms, this is what we do."

Magic and Other Misdemeanors by Michael Buckley

Everything's going haywire in Ferryport Landing. The new mayor, the Queen of Hearts, has implemented a tax on all the humans' properties. Then there is Charming who has been missing for three months. At least the girls have been getting some training in but with Puck that training is more like war. Their parents are still asleep but they are working on it. Sabrina's birthday is coming up in a few days and she is stronger than ever.

There are strange things going on. People who aren't supposed to there and creatures as well. Solving this case can affect their future even more than you think. Will they be able to? Or is this the Grimm Sisters first unsolvable case?

You will get very excited and giddy when you read this book. It's ridiculous how much it makes you happy. It also makes you worry a whole lot because the future isn't so great. Meanwhile Uncle Jake seems to have found himself a girlfriend... if only her two fairy godmothers would leave him alone. She's Briar Rose. Yep that's right. He's smitten with Sleeping Beauty. Snow White has been upset for three months and it's not going to end well for our people. The next one is going to be crazy! I'm so excited. Well, Have A Very Grimm Week!

A Grimm Reaction: Once Upon A Crime

A favorite moment of mine when Puck broke down. Why do I like such heartbreaking moments? Well, here we go.

Sabrina smiled. "There's no one here now, Why don't you go ahead with your version?"
Puck tilted his head curiously at Sabrina and smiled.
"My father was mean, arrogant, horrible, and selfish. He cared little for anyone and less for those who disagreed with him. His only love was for his precious kingdom."
Sabrina raised her eyebrows, admiring the boy's honesty, but remained quiet.
Puck turned to the water as if his father were still there, listening.
"I hated you!" he shouted. "You took every opportunity to remind me that I was weak and stupid!"
Suddenly, Puck fell to his knees. Tears streamed down his cheeks. Sabrina rushed to him, knelt down, and used her scarf to wipe them away.

First of all. They were holding hands. It said it moments before.

When he was talking about how his father was mean, arrogant, etc.

When he said I hate you to his father and started crying.

So that's it for Once Upon A Crime. Have A Very Grimm Week!
