August 2012 Cover Love

My Cover Loves for this past month are:

Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John: Not only is this book about a band and a deaf manager but it's about the growth that Piper achieves and the confidence in herself that makes this book an absolutely must read. This cover reminds me a lot of The Piper's Son. I have a thing for bands and music in books. They consistently stand out. She just looks so kickass that I love this cover.

Blink Once by Cylin Busby: I just love NetGalley and all it's wisdom. It's wisdom because it puts a book like Blink Once on it's site for everyone to read. West is paralyzed and he did while trying to show off to his girl riding his bike. He might not have been showing off but he looked at her before he went and messed himself up so there was some definite distraction. You'd think that being this hot guy that he would act like a jerk or complain to much but no. He's this really sweet and lovable character who makes friends with his next door name that is on the cover I might add. I love when books have a cover underwater so that's mainly why I love this cover. It also means so much to the story. I mean it kind of symbolizes the main characters feeling alone and trapped. West is unable to speak so it's pretty symbolic.

Tune: The Vanishing Point by Derek Kirk Kim: Crazy awesome graphic novel perfect for the nerdy college type. It resembles so much of my brothers and their friends so I had to love it. I love graphic novel covers! The illustrations are a big part of the book so if I like the illustrations inside of course I'm going to love the cover.

Okay For Now by Gary D. Schmidt: I know it's very simple and it's just a kid with a bag over his head but simple covers can be the best covers. I feel so sorry for Doug in this. I love the name but I don't really fully understand how it pertains to the book maybe.

  3. A Little Wanting Song is one of my faves. If you like books about music, you should read Tara Kelly books - Amplified and Harmonic Feedback.
