Double the Readathons: Scooby-Doo & Medieval-a-Thon

I'm in the mood to participate in a readathon and luckily for me, I found two that look like lots of fun. The Scooby-Doo Readathon is hosted by lots of booktubers. I became aware of it thanks to The Roomies Digest whose channel I've recently discovered. They are two roommates and friends that talk about books. It's from January 10th to January 23rd. I'm joining the Scooby and Shaggy team.

The other readathon I am participating in is the Medieval-a-Thon. The more books you read the higher your rank. You can be a peasant, a princess, an empress, etc. Basically reminds me of my old Royal Readathon challenge but you don't have to read books with royalty. It's hosted by Holly Hearts Books. My main focus will be becoming a Seamstress. But I may read from the Clergy and Baker tracks so I can become an empress. This readathon is from January 10th to February 10th.

With both these readathons, I am happy with whatever I read. No pressure. So this is a list of possible books I'll read for the Scooby-Doo Readathon.

Best Buds: A book with strong friendships

This is one of the Top 5 books I want to read this month so I'm glad I am able to put it into this readathon. It's perfect for this challenge. It's a group of friends who are daughters of famous characters like Dr. Jekyl, Mr. Hyde, Dr. Frankenstein, etc. who are solving a mystery.

Scooby-Dooby Doo: A book with a prominent animal/animal sidekick

I've been meaning to read this one for ages. A man is about to die but the Devil visits him and promises him another day of life. In order to get another day of life, he must wish something to disappear. It's not the usual type of book I read but it sounds really cool.

Zoinks: A book with an unlikely hero/underdog

This is another Top 5 book for this month. I would say Anne de Bourgh is an underdog. I am so excited to see how Greeley reimagines her story. As who knows what happens to her after Elizabeth and Darcy get their happy ending.

Monster Madness: Horror or Thriller Book

This is a horror book featuring two killers who either fall in love or one of them is going to die. I'm not usually into slasher movies and this seems like a slasher book but apparently, if there is any potential of romance I'll read a book. It seems like good fun.

Hex Girls: A book with magic

Boneset & Feathers has this enchantress who's lost all her family. She's the only witch left. And some witchfinders are looking for her. But she's not going to make it easy for them. Isn't this such a cool cover? This is published by an indie press and so is Go Down Hard. I think they did an awesome job on the cover.

Scooby Snacks: A book with food

Another Top 5 book that I'm super excited and nervous about. I haven't had the best luck with travel books but this one features Cuban food so it's a must read for me.

I'm not going for a specific nobility rank for the Medieval-a-Thon but I guess it would be nice to go all the way. This is a month-long challenge so I am more likely to complete all the challenges for this one.

Obviously, this is the best profession out of all of them. I would love to sew my own clothes one day. I'm going to try for all five of the prompts.

Read a book you're unsure about

Although Boneset & Feathers sounds really cool, I really don't know what to expect with it. I found it with a list of horror books which is what I want to read more of but it doesn't feel very horror-esque. We will see.

First book in a series

This is the first book to a series and hopefully one I feel like I really need to continue on which is the hope with every start of a series I read.

A book with foiling on the cover

My copy has this gold look foiling on the cover. I think it's what they mean by foiling at least...

The last book you bought/borrowed

This is the last book I bought. I've been on an ebook buying mood which isn't usual for me. But, it makes sense because horror or indie books in general aren't things you'll find at the library.

Prettiest book on your shelf

I got this for Christmas and I think it's not only the prettiest but the coolest book on my shelf. It has this badass queen who is almost assassinated. She is left stranded in a dangerous land and must find her way home.

I like the Clergy Profession too but I didn't have a book about books or a book with a chosen trope so I knew I couldn't go for it. I will do one prompt in order to be a queen though.

A book with a person on the cover

There are two people on this cover so this is perfect. I'm really looking forward to reading some foodie fiction.

The Baker Profession would have been fun as well but I do prefer to be a seamstress and some of the prompts didn't coincide with books I wanted to read soon.

A book from a genre you don't read from

I don't read much historical fiction so I thought of The Heiress. But, I don't read any poetry books so Mustard, Milk, and Gin would be a good choice too. I just don't know if I'll finish a poetry book so I gave myself two options just in case.

Are you participating in any of these readathons?

Which team/profession would you go for?

Comments

  1. These readathons sound fun, but a little confusing for me! I do like the idea of trying to become an empress, though!
