January 2019 Most Anticipated Releases

It's almost January and that means a whole new anticipated batch of books. I say anticipated because if you noticed I decided to change my title from Book Releases to Most Anticipated Releases. That's mainly because I have been posting my most anticipated reads but naming my posts wrong. This fact is unsurprising if you know me. Also, this list has actual release dates! What a wonder to add something like that to a list about book releases...

I want this list to span all ages and genres. I also want to be dying to read these books. Like if you gave me one of these books in my hands, I would walk away from any conversation we were having and start reading instantly. So some of these lists may be shorter because I'm narrowing things down to the best of the best books coming out (in my opinion).

For decades, people have asked the question: Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? But just who is this infamous and elusive globe-trotting criminal?

A skilled thief on a mysterious mission, Carmen Sandiego is endlessly pursued by ACME and Interpol. But the woman in the red fedora is always one step ahead! In this novelization, based on the Netflix animated series, Carmen shares her own backstory for the first time ever. Now, it's time to find out.... Who in the world is Carmen Sandiego.
Did you know that there is not only going to be a Carmen Sandiego book, a Carmen Sandiego animated TV series, but also a Carmen Sandiego movie!?

The book and animated series are going to be geared towards kids which is backed up by the book cover and pictures promoting the animated series. The voice actress and the the live-action actress in the Carmen Sandiego movie will be Gina Rodriguez from Jane the Virgin.

The animated TV series will be looking at before Carmen Sandiego became an infamous criminal. I have a feeling they are going to create a narrative in a way that the audience will feel sympathetic towards Ms. Sandiego. But I don't want to give her my sympathy, neither would she want the sympathy. I just want a cool character that will be investigated, preferably around the world like the game that made me love this iconic thief - Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? No matter what I am dying to read the book and see all the media adaptions of the story. I've been wanting it for years.

TV Show Release on Netflix: January 18th, 2019

When six clones join Emmaline’s prestigious boarding school, she must confront the heartbreak of seeing her dead best friend’s face each day in class.

The Similars are all anyone can talk about at the elite Darkwood Academy. Who are these six clones? What are the odds that all of them would be Darkwood students? Who is the madman who broke the law to create them? Emma couldn't care less. Her best friend, Oliver, died over the summer and all she can think about is how to get through her junior year without him. Then she comes face-to-heartbreaking-face with Levi—Oliver's exact DNA replica and one of the Similars.

Emma wants nothing to do with the Similars, but she keeps getting pulled deeper and deeper into their clique, uncovering dark truths about the clones and her prestigious school along the way. But no one can be trusted…not even the boy she is falling for who has Oliver's face.
The Originals made me love the concept of clones in books. It's such a strange thing to be drawn in by a story but here we are. The Similars sounds like it will deal with loss, mystery, and possibly the morals of creating a clone. Clones are possible but is it morally okay to do such a thing? I hope to see The Similars explore this idea while also having a great mystery and possible romance. I can't help but want a romance to happen. There is no changing me.

Sisters Lu and Min have always understood their places as princesses of the Empire. Lu knows she is destined to become the dynasty's first female ruler, while Min is resigned to a life in her shadow. Then their father declares their male cousin Set the heir instead - a betrayal that sends the sisters down two very different paths.

Determined to reclaim her birthright, Lu goes on the run. She needs an ally - and an army - if she is to succeed. Her quest leads her to Nokhai, the last surviving wolf shapeshifter. Nok wants to keep his identity secret, but finds himself forced into an uneasy alliance with the girl whose family killed everyone he ever loved . . .

Alone in the volatile court, Min's hidden power awakens - a forbidden, deadly magic that could secure Set's reign . . . or allow Min to claim the throne herself. But there can only be one Emperor, and the sisters' greatest enemy could turn out to be each other.
I read a review of The Girl King @ My Lovely Secret and fell in love. I love werewolf/shifter stories. It's difficult to find one that isn't overly sexual or cringy. This one has two sisters fighting for the throne. I love the potential of both sisters being able to win the throne and that they both seem to be opposites. The shifter aspect is intriguing. The only thing I would worry about is any possible romance ruining the storyline.

My heart is a window. My heart is a slide. My heart can be closed...or opened up wide.

Some days your heart is a puddle or a fence to keep the world out. But some days it is wide open to the love that surrounds you.

With lyrical text and breathtaking art, My Heart, My Heart empowers all readers to listen to the guide within in this ode to love and self-acceptance.
My Heart is a very me book in that it delves into emotions. The writing is very simple while the message is not. I think it would be a lovely picture book to read.

Young Emmett Farmer is working in the fields when a strange letter arrives summoning him away from his family. He is to begin an apprenticeship as a Bookbinder—a vocation that arouses fear, superstition, and prejudice among their small community but one neither he nor his parents can afford to refuse.

For as long as he can recall, Emmett has been drawn to books, even though they are strictly forbidden. Bookbinding is a sacred calling, Seredith informs her new apprentice, and he is a binder born. Under the old woman’s watchful eye, Emmett learns to hand-craft the elegant leather-bound volumes. Within each one they will capture something unique and extraordinary: a memory. If there’s something you want to forget, a binder can help. If there’s something you need to erase, they can assist. Within the pages of the books they create, secrets are concealed and the past is locked away. In a vault under his mentor’s workshop, rows upon rows of books are meticulously stored.

But while Seredith is an artisan, there are others of their kind, avaricious and amoral tradesman who use their talents for dark ends—and just as Emmett begins to settle into his new circumstances, he makes an astonishing discovery: one of the books has his name on it. Soon, everything he thought he understood about his life will be dramatically rewritten.
This is the coolest concept. Angela over @ Musings of a Literary Wanderer  aided in the discovery of this beautiful looking book where magic and books are at the forefront of the story. So far it has great reviews on Goodreads so this is a definite tbr book for me. I'm over the moon excited about reading The Binding. I don't know what else to say. I'm rendered speechless by this book apparently.
