Challenge Hosted @ Operation Actually Read Bible

The Goal: Read the Bible/Get Closer to God/Figure out where I stand with my spirituality

I'm going to try to read The Bible all the way through at least once throughout the entire year. I'm Catholic, but I haven't practiced in years. I don't believe everything in the Bible or within the Catholic Church, but it has helped me be a better person in the past so why not actually learn about God on my own terms? I also plan to read books on Catholicism and other World Religions since religions, in general, are interesting and are followed for a reason. I also would love to keep a journal to reflect on my thoughts. One last thing is I want to pray at least three times a week - simply talking to God is one way I count as praying. Let's see what happens shall we?

Planned Reads:

The Bible (The International Student Bible for Catholics)

The Gospel of Mary Magdelene

Meditation on Mary

Saints: Who They are and How they Help You

Signs of Life: 40 Catholic Customs and the differences they make

Encyclopedia of Angels

Challenge Hosted @ Roof Beam Reader

The Goal: Read the Bible in one year.

I know I already signed up for something like this, but I'm reading at my own pace. This is more because I want to be able to discuss and see other viewpoints on passages in the Bible.

Challenge Hosted @ Fictively

The Goal: To get your feedback ratio to 80%.

  2. I have been going back and forth on if I should sign up for any reading challenges this year. Since I epicially failed all of the ones I signed up for this year and last year I don't think I am going to sign up for any year long ones in 2016. I will do the goodreads challenge because I do that every year, but besides that I will stick to the random monthly challenges and the bout of books week long challenges. I seem to do better with sorter challenges.

    1. I was going to do just monthly challenges but look at me now! I only picked challenges I knew I was going to do. I am planning to do read-a-thons and monthly challenges too. I'm going to do monthly challenges on Goodreads too. I haven't decided how many books I'm going to read this year. Have you?

  4. Welcome back to the Graphic Novel Challenge! Glad to have you with us again! It's gonna be fun!!!

The religion challenge looks fascinating! I'm a Catholic convert and found discovering the faith soooo rewarding. Wonderful to see Scott Hahn on your list. I can't recommend his books highly enough. It may sound silly, but a really excellent read is "Catholicism for Dummies". Very well written, to the point, makes sense of things in layman's words and entertaining! Feel free to ask me anything.
