I've been in a very Harry Potter mood lately. I'm making a surprise food item from the HP series that you'll see later on in the month and I'm beyond excited for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts to come out later this year!!! So I went searching for a tag and found this one @ Captivated by Fantasy that I knew I had to give a try. Get ready for some spell related questions!
What!? How could I find anything possibly wrong with this beloved debut? Well, I did. I should have reviewed it to explain why beforehand but the gist of it is - it's boring and Dimple is annoying. I do like the concept of an independent girl who ends up liking a boy her parents want her to be with. I read an arranged marriage type book, The Mango Season, around the same time that I felt really delved deep into the Indian culture and the reality of going against the family. I would like more of that and interesting characters/personalities in When Dimple Met Rishi.
I mention this series a ton in discussion posts and I know that not everyone's a fan but I can't help but loving this series. It has very strange poetry in between the story that you have to get used to but otherwise I really enjoyed Shatter Me. There is so much you don't discover until later in the books about each of the characters so when everything comes together I fell for the characters even more.
OBVIOUSLY, based on my last selection I'm going to pick Restore Me. When I found out about this book... I was in a state of disbelief. Yo know those weird gaspy noises when a sequel or a book by an author you love is coming out. Imagine that but bigger because this came out of left field. I always wondered how the story would continue and then here comes this gem. I'm so worried Kenji or Warner is going to die.
Side note: I was going to pick The Legion #3 but I doubt that's going to ever happen...
I'm making a dumb giggling sound now. Killer? Get it? She gets killed over again until she gets her death right. I know. I'm weird.
I absolutely LOVE Before I Fall. It's one of my favorites for a reason. The change you see in the MC is beautiful. The ending has always resonated with me. I still haven't seen the movie though. The actors are way too old for the part of teenagers. It messes with my sense of belief.
Kim Savage never fails to mind mess with me. Beautiful Broken Girls is such a twistedly, weird book. I love Savage's books nonetheless. I'm sad to see that the book is rated so low. I can understand it because it is under my confusion section of this tag but I hope more readers give Savage a try.
I've never declared anyone my spirit animal. I even had to look it up to clarify the meaning. So keeping in mind that a spirit animal is someone that represents me or who I want to be I'd have to say my spirit animal is Agatha from The School for Good and Evil. Can you tell this was a difficult find for me? Didn't expect Agatha did you? I picked Agatha because she is an oddball who ends up being a really loyal, kind friend. As a Hufflepuff I appreciate the loyalty so Agatha's my girl.
Robert Cormier has a really messed up mind. He doesn't give a damn about the main characters and likes to shock the heck out of you at the VERY END OF THE BOOK. If you are looking for any dark and twisted reads just read any of his books. I usually wouldn't read a book featuring a terrorist group or anything like that but After the First Death is brilliant.
Made of Stars is one of my favorite books and it was a shock too! I had put off reading it for the longest time and I was beating myself up after finishing it. I hate and love when that happens. I wish there was a sequel because I desperately need one.! It has the cutest romance with the sister being non the wiser until things got obvious. There's a bit of mystery, love, and some depth when it came to one of the character's home life situation.
Tag! You're it! You can do the Harry Potter Tag if you want on your blog or down below in the comments. I want to know your results!
What a fun tag! I've read I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier which I love, but I need to check out more from him. I've always been curious about Made of Stars so it sounds like I should get on that!

I've also been in a HP mood :) I can't say I've read any of these though! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have had Shatter Me on my list to read for-ever! I really should get to it soon. I loved reading your answers.
ReplyDeleteAlohomora: The Lightning Thief sucked me in and made me want to read the rest of the series.
Thanks for sharing! :)
Sorry to hear about When Dimple Met Rishi. I've heard so many good things about it. I was always a little nervous to read it because I was worried about it being a bit boring. :\ I think I'm #2 on the library's waiting list for this. So, I guess we will see...
