Library Loot // I'm Going to Get Some Serious Reading Done

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

Picture Books:

I got assigned to pick five picture books too good to miss so I headed to the library and picked out a few picture books. Excuse Me... Are You a Witch? is sure to be the cutest thing with a black cat looking for some companionship.

Excuse Me... Are You a Witch? by Emily Horn

Honk! by Pamela Duncan Edwards

Love and Roast Chicken by Barbara Knutson

I got some classic picture book stories, but the one I think I'll like best is My Pop Pop and Me because surprise surprise it's about baking a cake!

Henny Penny by Vivian French

My Pop Pop and Me by Irene Smalls

The Ant and the Grasshopper by Amy Lowry Poole

Children/MG Books:

And look at what we have here. I'm into cats and desserts in my books this week.

Pie by Sarah Weeks

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

 YA Books:

I'm so excited to read Holly Black and Maggie Stiefvater's writing! I still have to read The Dream Thieves which centers around Ronan. I want to figure out what is going on in that boy's head.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

Huntress by Malinda Lo

After listening to Kami Garcia talk about her Legion series I had to get the two that were out. The covers are gorgeous!

Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Unmarked by Kami Garcia

Everyone seemed to love Heist Society when I mentioned it in a past Top Ten Tuesday so I'm optimistic it's going to be a winner.

I Was Here by Gayle Forman

Heist Society by Ally Carter

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Jumping Off Swings by Jo Knowles

What books have you picked up this week?
Has anyone read Kami Garcia's Legion series?

  1. I love the library! Our is small so at times I have to request for them to get books. But there's just something about being surrounded by books that is truly comforting. I hope you enjoy these!

    1. I'm lucky that my library system has so many books to choose from. I just wish there were new YA books there all the time.

  2. Look at all those books. I haven only read the MG books- so I can't wait to hear your thoughts about them and of course all the books which are new to me. The picture books look super cute! I have Don't Look Back on my TBR list- the cover intrigues me every time. Happy reading!

I love the library. Right now I have three picture books out: Rosie Revere Engineer, Lifetime (A book of numbers in animal lives),and The Camping Trip that Changed America. They are all totally different and wonderful- though Rosie is my favorite. I am also listening to the audio of Dragonrider by Cornelia Funke. It is read by Brendan Fraser and he does a really good job.

    Happy reading!

    1. Rosie! I listened to Icky Peck, Architect a long time ago. I'm sure Rosie's is just as good. That's a weird combination with Fraiser and Cornelia Funke. You reminded me how I need to continue the Inkheart series. I'm sure you've read it before.

  3. That's a serious library haul! I love the cover for The Mysterious Benedict Society. I haven't read MG in awhile but that looks like a fun one. I want to try Don't Look Back as well. I bought my daughter a copy for her birthday a few months ago and she loved it. I may have to go steal her copy! Have a great week!

  4. Woah, awesome loot!! I haven't been to the library in a while - I'm trying to work through some of the books that I own - so this makes me a bit envious! I also remember hearing really great things about Heist Society when it came out and even a movie deal, but I still need to read it myself. Happy reading!

    1. I'm working a little on the books I own which is a miracle, but I could do better with that whole situation... Is the Heist Society still becoming a movie? There are a few books to movie that I've heard about that have never come to fruition. Thanks! You too.

  5. Awesome loot! Libraries are just phenomenal :) I haven't read Blue Lily, Lily Blue yet (hard to find it at my library) but The Raven Boys is one of my favourite series of books, and The Dream Thieves was incredible so I think it'll be great. And I loved The Coldest Girl in Coldtown! Holly Black's writing is great. And ofc, The Summer I Turned Pretty is also pretty wonderful. I'm curious to see your thoughts on I Was Here. I've wanted to read it for a while and have simply never come around to it.

    Happy reading!

    1. I was lucky that my library had Blue Lily, Lily Blue. There are a lot of very popular books that are still not in the system after years of being out which I just can't believe. I just finished a trilogy of Holly Black so I'm looking forward to diving into more of her books.

  7. These all sound amazing and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on them! I remember reading The Mysterious Benedict Society in like 4th grade but my simple mind couldn't handle it and it bored me to death :P But I've been thinking about picking it up again and giving it another go :D

Don't Look Back is amazing though and I'm sure you'll love it, I'll read pretty much anything JLA will write :)

    1. I know Jennifer L. Armentrout is pretty popular, but I've never read anything by her. I'm sure Don't Look Back will leave me wanting to read more of her books.

  8. I was on a Jenny Han book listening binge and just finished Summer I Turned Pretty. I liked it but I LOVED To All the Boys I've Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You on audio more. One of these days I will read something from Gayle Forman. :)

    1. I loved To All the Boys I Loved Before too. I hope I like The Summer I Turned Pretty just as much, but the characters in the first book might be to awesome to top.
