Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Never Never #1. Hoover Ink (Jan. 2015) Own
Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen. Complete strangers since this morning. He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

Basically, this book was the biggest tease ever. What Never Never has going for it is the extreme amount of mystery that you will have to navigate through while reading the story. But, like everyone else, I did not know what was going on. All I kept on saying was "What is happening!?" as I flew through the pages. There were so many things going on in my mind to try as I tried to figure out what on Earth was happening to the two main characters - Charlie and Silas.

I love that this book kept me guessing. I want a book from time to time to challenge me and have me consider things I wouldn't have before in order to try to figure out the mystery in a story. I just could not stop reading this book. And of course I should have expected it but I was left wanting more with the evilest cliffhanger ever! I am so happy that the next book is coming out in May because I would have cursed the heavens if it came out next year.

“How odd to be made of flesh, balanced on bone, and filled with a soul you’ve never met.”

I won't say much about the plot since you can kind of get a handle on it based on the summary and to say anything would ruin the mystery. I will continue to say however, how much I truly enjoyed reading Never Never. It had me so completely engaged from the plot to the romance. It was such a wonderful change of pace especially since the story-line was such an attention grabber even with the small amount of pages within the book.

“She's familiar. My only familiar thing in a world of inconsistency and confusion.”

The main characters are Charlie and Silas. The description of these characters and their situation is wonderfully told. I could imagine both characters right away. I really liked that there were two POV's and I got to see the story from both of their perspectives. I felt like I could understand each character better and understand why they would react a certain way. I felt sorry for both of them because their family lives weren't ideal and Charlie's perception of herself made me want to cheer her up. No, she doesn't have low self-esteem. It's complicated. This whole book is complicated!

“I may not remember anything about her, but I would bet her smile was my favorite part of her”

I want to say more but I know I can't. One thing I must say is that this is classified under New Adult so you can imagine where the story may head while you are reading it. If you don't like New Adult I can't guarantee you will like this book but I still think it's worth a try if you are feeling adventurous.

Never Never is an all around fantastic read and I recommend it wholeheartedly. The characters are fantastic, the plot is fantastic, the romance is fantastic, the mystery is fantastic. Everything about this little book is fantastic. I just want more of Colleen Hoover's and Tarryn Fisher's writing. If you have any recommendations of their work please give them to me. I need something to keep me holding on until May.

  1. I don't think I have ever read a single Colleen Hoover book. Not one. Maybe I should start with this one?! I do like a good mystery even if I do get confused while reading. I also don't mind New Adult as long as it is on the unique side to the genre. Too bad about the evil cliffhanger. I guess it is good you only have to wait for May and not say December or something. lol :)

    1. I hadn't read a Colleen Hoover book before either so I was happily surprised when I stumbled on to Never Never and enjoyed it. New Adult has always been tricky but so far it's done really right. It's good that you have experienced it before though.

    1. Haha (: ~ I kind of broke down and bought it too because I was so curious especially with the small amount of summary it gave.

    1. Oh really? I think a lot of people expected something else from these authors. Apparently Colleen Hoover write a lot of books that leave you crying so maybe that's the case.

  4. I've read some really different reviews of this one! I think I might read it or at least check it out on Goodreads, but I haven't really decided yet.
