Part 3: Graphic Novels I'm Looking Forward To Reading

This is my last list for graphic novels/comics I'm looking forward to reading. I added another comic that I completely forgot about. So I'm even more behind in reading comics. Still, it's nice to have a list of them all together so I can keep them in mind to read for next year which is almost here! Part 1 - Part 2.

Lord Ballister Blackheart has a point to make, and his point is that the good guys aren't as good as they seem. He makes a comfortable living as a supervillain, but never really seems to accomplish much - until he takes on a new sidekick, Nimona, a shapeshifter with her own ideas of how things should be done. Unfortunately, most of those ideas involve blowing things up. Now Ballister must teach his young protégé some restraint and try to keep her from destroying everything, while simultaneously attempting to expose the dark dealings of those who claim to be the protectors of the kingdom - including his former best friend turned nemesis, Ambrosius Goldenloin.

Thoughts: I feel like this was created by the same person that made the cover of Fangirl. I'm even being reaffirmed because there is a quote from Rainbow Rowell in the front so.... this should be awesome.

She is ALLURING

She is MYSTERIOUS

She is BANDETTE!

The world's greatest thief is a costumed teen burglar by the nome d'arte of Bandette! Gleefully plying her skills on either side of the law alongside her network of street urchins, Bandette is a thorn in the side of both Police Inspector Belgique and the criminal underworld. But it's not all breaking hearts and purloining masterpieces when a rival thief makes a startling discovery. Can even Bandette laugh off a plot against her life?

Thoughts: I love books with antiheroes as main characters like with this one and its thief MC. She clearly has a cheeky side. I'm sure I'll enjoy her sassiness in Bandette.

Who are the Rat Queens?
A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit.

It's also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief. This modern spin on an old school genre is a violent monster-killing epic that is like Buffy meets Tank Girl in a Lord of the Rings world on crack!

Thoughts: If you haven't sensed a theme for all the comics I've listed it's easily strong heroines and this seems like the ultimate one for that category.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Five best friends spending the summer at Lumberjane scout camp...defeating yetis, three-eyed wolves, and giant falcons...what’s not to love?!

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT: It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. And with the talent of acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing, and Brooke Allen on art, this is going to be a spectacular series that you won’t want to miss.

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they’re not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things.

Thoughts: And here is another comic that features an amazing array of strong females. I feel like that the words strong female can also mean quirky, emotional, sweet, and anything else in a girl. We are all strong in our own way. I just wanted to point that out there. I like that the Lumberjanes is these five girls whose story is compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gravity Falls because both of those shows are fantastic in my eyes.

WELCOME TO GOTHAM ACADEMY! Gotham City’s most prestigious prep school is a very weird place. It’s got a spooky campus, oddball teachers, and rich benefactors always dropping by...like that weirdo Bruce Wayne. But nothing is as strange is the students!

Like, what’s up with Olive Silverlock? Is she crazy or what? Where did she go last summer? And what’s the deal with her creepy mom? And how come that Freshman MAPS is always following her around? And is she still going out with Kyle? P.S. Did you hear the rumor about the ghost in the North Hall?!

GOTHAM ACADEMY is a new, monthly teen drama set in the shadow of Batman and the craziness of Gotham City, with new characters and old plus a secret tie to Gotham’s past…

Thoughts: You had me at Gotham. I love everything Batman so I'm completely into this story without even reading it yet. I really hope it's as good as I need it to be.

Marvel Comics presents the new Ms. Marvel, the groundbreaking heroine that has become an international sensation!

Kamala Khan is an ordinary girl from Jersey City — until she's suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman? Find out as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm! When Kamala discovers the dangers of her newfound powers, she unlocks a secret behind them, as well. Is Kamala ready to wield these immense new gifts? Or will the weight of the legacy before her be too much to bear? Kamala has no idea, either. But she's comin' for you, New York!

Thoughts: And now to the final comic that I NEED to read - Ms. Marvel. This isn't just any remake of a superhero but a superhero that is Muslim which I've never heard of. I'm sure many others haven't heard of a character like this before which is why so many people are reading it. I feel like this Ms. Marvel is so hyped and even wit that I'll seriously enjoy learning about this character.
