Library Loot #3: Comics and Steampunk

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.

I haven't done one of these in a long time, but I recently decided to get a bunch load of books from the library. These books are mainly for challenges on Goodreads and the yearly challenges I've signed up for.

I watched Over the Garden Wall a while back now. The world was fun, interesting, and a little bit dark. I can't wait to get back to that story.

I decided to read Perfect Ruin for a team challenge I'm participating in. I started reading it and so far it's very different from the books I've read lately. The writing is really well done.

The Star Thief and Vermilion are both steampunk reads. I am failing at my steampunk reading challenge so I thought I would pick up a couple of steampunk books. The Star Thief was picked because of it's beautiful cover and the same can be said for Vermilion. Vermilion's cover looks like something I've seen before in my brother's books or something I know he would like.

I've never wanted to read another James Patterson book ever again after my experience with Witch and Wizard. BUT, I recently saw the movie or at least snippets of Maximum Ride and the story really intrigued me.

Plutona was a random comic I ordered. I am behind on my graphic novel and manga challenge only having reviewed 3 comics. Pathetic if you think about how I planned on reading 52. From what I recall, Plutona has kids finding a dead body which I thought was pretty cool.

Broxo was a book I planned to read a long time ago. I got it from NetGalley late so as soon as I found out I got it, it was archived. Still so annoyed by that but willing to give the book a shot.

Another comic/graphic novel I got was El Deafo about a deaf character. I seem to really like deaf characters in books because when ever I read about one coming out I want to read it. It's high time I read it already!

What have you gotten from the library lately?

  1. I have gotten 2 used books recently from a rather unique library. Have you heard of the Little Free Library program? https://littlefreelibrary.org/ Individual people put out book boxes and allow people to pass on a book or two and take one or two in return they want to read. My daughter actually found a charter in our city and brought me home 2 books in exchange for a few of hers. One of them was "The President's Daughter" by Jack Higgins which I am currently reading.

I'd never heard of steampunk until about a year ago and my daughter gave me the gift of "The Steampunk Bible" recently for my birthday so I can learn more about it.

I have enjoyed visiting your blog.
