#FitReaders: May 1st, 2015 Check-In

#FitReaders: I got a great idea from Grace @ My Book Snack to try having one day of eating vegan. I plan on coming up with what I want to eat that day and presenting it to my parents. I live with them and don't have a job so they control what I eat which can be frustrating, but I have it good so I shouldn't complain. I'll let you know how it goes next time.

My goals for this May is to lift twelve-pound weights by the end of the month. I switched to ten-pound weights about a month ago which is harder to lift with my workouts than you think. At least for me it is. I don't know what my plan is for the amount of weights I want to lift in total for this year, however I am thinking lifting would be a really good strength training workout. I still can't try it until I'm able to lift the bar which is like twenty pounds. It's lucky my dad has a bar and weights or I would have to embarrass myself at the gym. Speaking of the gym, does anyone go? I don't work out my legs as much as my arms using weights so I'm thinking that might be a good solution in the future.

Friday, April 24th 2015:
26 minutes of walking
35 tricep dips
5 reps of 20 wall push-ups
32 oz of water

Saturday, April 25th 2015:
Walk/Run - 1.92 miles in 30 minutes
32 oz of water

Sunday, April 26th 2015:
26 minutes of walking
64 oz of water
Thoughts: Back thighs hurting me!

Monday, April 27th 2015:
64 oz of water
Thoughts: Back thighs are still bothering me but will get back to my routine tomorrow.

Tuesday, April 28th 2015:
100 Drawer Push-ups*
35 Tricep Dips
48 oz of water
*I'm making my way to doing floor push-ups so from wall push-ups now come drawer push-ups. Hopefully this works.
Thoughts: It's been very windy and rainy here so no running or jogging or walking today...

Wednesday, April 29th 2015:
32 oz of water
Thoughts: The weather is killing me! I'll have to run/walk on the treadmill tomorrow so I stop wasting time waiting for the weather to clear up.

Thursday, April 30th 2015
100 Drawer Pushups
40 Tricep Dips
40 Squats
48 oz of water
Thoughts: No running or walking today. I started too late in the day.

How did you do this week? Are you reaching your goals?

  1. I hope things are going well trying out eating vegan. A slow transition is the way to go. 10 lbs is hard to lift, but with regular lifting you should get stronger and then be able to lift more. I'm still doing the 10 lb kettlebell, and working towards the 15 lb one.

    1. That's the plan. I still will have to keep using 5 pound weight for some tricep moves though. Maybe I can slowly transition with 10 pound weights. I don't want to strain myself though.
That's great! I don't have a kettlebell myself. It would be great to try out new exercise moves with one.

  2. Good luck moving to vegan one day a week. I've been a vegetarian most of my life and am slowly moving towards being vegan. It can be a challenge (especially if you aren't able to make your own menu) but can be so tasty too.

    1. I think I'll be learning to cook a lot more with this process and I need to meal plan better. I already had my vegan day and will let you know how it went. Why did you go vegetarian if I may ask?
