April 2014 Wrap Up

As you may have noticed I was not around virtually the whole time on the blog in the month of April. I was focused on the end of Spring Semester and making a decision on what to do with the rest of my life... I've decided to change my major to Education. I've always wanted to be a teacher but the public school system limitations and my belief about how well I would do as a teacher got in the way. Honestly, it's the only career which I can see myself in that doesn't take forever to get into and is actually rewarding. I know I'm really shy but all it takes is some time for me to adapt and learn. As a result of this new change in major I feel like I'm headed in the right direction for the rest of my life. Although it's still really terrifying to think about and I have my doubts to whether I won't change my mind later, funnily enough I'm heading toward becoming what I've wanted to be since I was a little girl playing teacher with her soft toys.

This April I read 8 books and 1 picture book.

Books and Picture Books I've Read:

I came across a situation in where I know I should have listened to everyone about Shatter Me yet it all turned out alright because I got to read the whole series in no time at all. I might read the series again because I loved it so much and so I can write a good review on each book. Also, Up at Butternut Lake was fantastic while Insomnia and The Perks of Being a Wallflower fell short for me. I have two weeks of break before an intensive Summer A semester so I hope to read the books I planned to read so long ago. Hopefully since I don't have too much stress of school and major life decision making I'll be around more this month. Good luck to everyone this month and happy reading!

  1. I'm glad you were able to figure things out. Good teachers are beautiful things. :) I wouldn't worry right now about changing your mind later. Most people change their major at least once, and almost as many people change their major two or three times.

So you enjoyed the Shatter Me series? I got the first book from the library once upon a time, but I didn't get the chance to read it before I had to take it back (story of my life). It's too bad that Insomnia fell short for you. It's on my TBR, so I was hoping it would be better. I've heard really mixed things about The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Some people love it and some don't. I've never heard of Up at Butternut Lake before, but it has a cute cover. And Then It's Spring looks adorable. I bet my kiddos would like it.

    Good luck with everything Adriana!

    1. My parents have been saying the same thing. That I worry too much and people change their majors all the time. Still doesn't stop my worrying though.

I LOVED the Shatter Me series. Me wanting to read it again so close from when I read them originally is saying something major about that series. Parts of the last book were kind of overly adult but I didn't mind them too much. Insomnia is very fast paced to the point where you can't catch a breath. I feel like I've only heard good things for Perks which why I was so surprised I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Good to know I'm not the only one. Up at Butternut Lake had great characters. Really good beach story. And Then It's Spring's illustrations I know you'll love.

      You too Dena!

  3. I have been wanting to read the Shatter Me series- glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much! :) Look at all that reading. Great job, especially since you have been so busy.

Being a teacher is very rewarding. I know you are shy- but you will see that it is different being with kids and seeing their faces helps keep the shyness away. :) Best of luck! You will be amazing.
