Overview:
An ordinary Lunch Lady leading a double life. A life of crime fighting justice! With a super secret lair (the boiler room), a gadget inventing sidekick (another lunch lady named Betty), and a mystery to solve the Lunch Lady has a lot on her plate (pun not intended) but she has everything she needs to fight the bad guys and win. While three students, Hector, Terrence, and Dee have been itching to find out what the Lunch Lady does on her off time a new substitute comes in for Mr. O'Connell - a beloved math teacher. But there is something off about this new substitute. Can Lunch Lady solve the mystery of the suspicious new substitute?

Review:
If you haven't figured it out yet by the title the substitute is a Cyborg. The Lunch Lady is a series that's caught the attention of many kids so I decided it would be fun to read. It was fun just in case you were wondering. It provided some entertainment from my more serious books I usually read. It was just plain fun.

The Lunch Lady is a mystery to Hector, Terrence, and Dee because for some unknown reason they are super curious about her but they have reason to be. The Lunch Lady proves to be the topic of conversation. She and her fellow lunch lady Betty (I don't know why they call the Lunch Lady the Lunch Lady but not Betty) try to figure out what's going on with this new substitute. He sounds a little too... robotic. He gives them a bunch of homework and classwork that makes kids start to rethink how great Mr. O'Connell really is for assigning them all this work.

The cyborg's background and why he was actually being a substitute was kind of funny in a way where I know kids would love. The book had cheesy but funny humor in it that I even enjoyed. The Lunch Lady would say things like Cauliflower!, Sweet Potatoes!, and Good Gravy! The Lunch Lady's friend, Betty, made gadgets for the Lunch Lady perfect for her character like a Spatu-copter (Spatula Helicopter) and a Lunch Tray Laptop.

There was a side story of the three kids - the Breakfast Bunch. They are all terrorized by a bully named Milmoe and his no named lackey. Hector seems to be a hardworking nerdy type of kid even though he doesn't look it or sound like it either. Terrence does look like a nerd but apparently is a good soccer player. I can't really tell much about him only that he seems like this quiet unassuming person. Dee on the other hand has a strong personality and I can tell I'm going to enjoy her later on. She'll put a smile on your face with her sarcasm.

The Lunch Lady was a great little book which should have been longer! but otherwise was great. It had some great action scenes and was full of some cheesy, humorous moments perfect for any kid. I also think that parents wouldn't mind reading this comic to their little ones. You have to start somewhere when you are introducing your kid to superheroes and graphic novels and this series is perfect for that.
